    Note :      The Hon'ble Delhi High Court by its judgement dated 05.04.2006 in W.P.(C) No.18600/2005 – Jishalakshi Embrandiri Vs. MCI & Ors. has laid down that the Medical Council of India will issue eligibility certificates to those candidates who fulfil eligibility conditions and declare that the candidate is intending to take admission in a foreign university which has been duly mentioned and recognized in the IMC Act, 1956.  The relevant portion of this judgement is as under :

    “9. …………The MCI would now be expected and empowered to issue these certificates only if the applicant has (a) attained the age of 17 years, (b) has passed 10+2 in the prescribed subjects with the required minimum percentage (50 per cent) and (c) intends to pursue studies in a foreign university which has been duly mentioned and recognized in the IMC Act………….”

    Any candidate who does not take admission in a medicine course in a foreign medical institution not included as a recognized institution in the IMC Act will not get the benefit of this eligibility certificate.  In other words, only such candidates who obtain admissions in the foreign medical institutions which are included as recognized medical institutions in the IMC Act that they would be able to claim the benefit of issuance of this eligibility certificate.

Eligibility
 
The minimum eligibility criteria to get admitted into a Russian Medical College is that a student must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50%  marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry & Biology in Higher Secondary or equivalent.
 
 
Duration of the Courses and Degree Awarded

In case of a Medical Course the duration of the course will be for a period of six years. The six years medical course will be preceded by a ten months preparatory course in Russian Language if the Medium of Instruction is Russian.

Some Universities in Moscow and St. Petersburg offer Medical Courses in English Medium where the preparatory course is not necessary.

On successful completion of the six year Medical Course the student is awarded with a M.D. (Doctor of Medicine), which is recognized as equivalent to M.B.B.S in India by the Medical Council of India.

         Engineering and other Humanitarian Courses
 


Eligibility

 

He / She should have passed Higher Secondary or equivalent with 40% of marks in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry as main subjects in case of admission for Engineering.

 
 
Duration of the Courses and Degree Awarded

Bachelor course is for a period of four years in the case of engineering and 5 years and six months in the case of a Masters degree.

This will be preceded by a 10 months preparatory faculty if the medium of instruction is Russian.

The University reserves the right of selection on an individual basis depending upon his / her previous academic performance.

 
 


Duration of the Courses and Degree Awarded

The post graduation course in the case of Medicine, Dental and Engineering are all for a period of two years.

All Medical and Dental Courses are only in Russian Medium as the clinical training involves lot of interaction with localities.

Some Engineering Universities offer postgraduate training in English medium. All students should undergo a ten months preparatory faculty where the medium of instruction is Russian.
